New Year, New Priority!


We're just 4 weeks into a new year & I'm already thinking "what the ____ 2017".  From my feeds,  it's a little comforting to see that I'm not the only one overwhelmed with all that is going on it the world. Every second of the day we're being informed of some tragedy, violation of human rights, and/or alternative facts. So many reports, so many opinions. *sigh* Just the thought is enough to send you into sensory overload.  

As we transition into this new year,  I'm making self care my top priority.  My mentor once told me "you're no good to anyone here if you pass out on my floor".  Granted I was feeling a little woozy watching her remove a keloid at the time, but when life lessons come at you fast, you gotta grab 'em.  So I'm telling you, you can't keep up the good fight if you're physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted.  

No matter what your "fight" is, you have to be your best self to accomplish it.

One of my goals this year is to expand Raised on Ramen (ROR) to include a full spectrum of wellness topics and resources.  I have a particular set of skills that I hope you will find helpful in your journey of self development. 

Right now my wellness goal is to be stronger.  For me that means working out & eating a balanced diet so that I can maintain the energy needed to power through a hectic day. 

I started Bikini Body Guide (BBG) by Kayla Itsines mid-January.  As a person who once considered running late a legitimate form of exercise, boy was starting brutal.  I am now into a comfortable routine, and look forward to a 20 minute workout to start my day. Moving forward, I want to up my workout to 5 days a week, cut out refined sugars, limit eating out, and read 2 books a month- one career related, the other leisure, and learn the art of meditation.
